For the 4th consecutive season, the Pella girls tennis team placed in the top four of Class 1A tennis. The Dutch fell to Decorah in a 5-4 epic back-and-forth before bouncing back to knock off Dike-New Hartford 5-1.
The opener featured three 3rd set tiebreakers, including a pair of narrow losses that ultimately gave the Vikings 2nd place. Pella and Decorah ended up tied 3-3 after singles, and it turned into a best of three in the doubles round. The Dutch fell at No. 3 doubles in a tiebreaker.
After a four-plus hour grind in the morning and early afternoon, the Dutch bounced back against the Wolverines. Addi Namminga won her second super tiebreaker of the day to clinch the match for Pella before needing the doubles pairs to come back out on the court.
