After three years at Purdue-Fort Wayne, Pella Christian alum Eric Mulder is preparing for his first season playing for the Iowa State Men’s Basketball team.

Mulder played in 91 games and started 58 at Purdue-Fort Wayne over the last three seasons, and averaged 5.7 points a contest on 71.4% shooting from the field and pulled down 5.4 rebounds a night. As a junior last winter, the former Eagle posted his best season to date, averaging 8.4 points and 6.7 rebounds a game while making 76.3% of his shots and grading out at the top player in the country in offensive efficiency in the KenPom rankings. Mulder said that he is thrilled to be returning to the state of Iowa to continue his basketball career, and to have the opportunity to play closer to where his passion for the game all started.

“It’s just been a lot of fun through the whole journey. I think Pella Christian is really where I started to love basketball and take it seriously, and I think that was just the start of my whole journey.”

Mulder and the Cyclones begin their season with exhibition games on the road at Creighton on Friday, October 17th and at home against Northwestern on Sunday, October 26th. The official start of the season for Iowa State will be at home against Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday, November 3rd, and Mulder says he’s looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere of Hilton Coliseum.

“I’ve heard a lot about it, but I think it’s going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity to play in Hilton in front of all the fans. So, I’m excited for that.”
