Pella Corporation is rolling out the red carpet for students and young professionals eager to explore manufacturing careers for National Manufacturing Month. The celebration takes on special significance as the company marks its 100th anniversary. Founded in 1925 in Pella, the window and door manufacturer has grown from a small-town startup to an industry leader. Now, as one of only 1% of businesses to reach the century mark, Pella is using Manufacturing Month to showcase the opportunities available in modern manufacturing, particularly for young women and students considering their career paths.
“Reaching our 100th anniversary is a testament to the power of American manufacturing and the dedicated teams who make our success possible,” said Roger Marin, VP Manufacturing & Logistics at Pella Corporation. “Our longevity isn’t just about making great products – it’s about fostering a culture where collaboration drives innovation at every level – within our teams, across our family of brands, with our industry partners, and especially with the communities we call home. This comprehensive approach to collaboration has been the foundation of our success for 100 years.”
The highlight of Pella’s Manufacturing Month activities will be hosting the Girl Scouts of Iowa’s “Incredible Women in Skilled Trades” program on Saturday, October 18. This marks the first time the program has focused specifically on manufacturing.
During the event, Pella Corporation’s women leaders will guide participants through hands-on STEM activities using LEGO building challenges that encourage collaborative problem-solving and provide exclusive tours of the company’s state-of-the-art Test Lab, where teams work together to ensure windows and doors can withstand extreme weather conditions through innovative testing methods.
“We’re excited to show young women that manufacturing is at the forefront of technology and innovation,” said Laura Phillips, Vice President of Engineering & Procurement at Pella Corporation. “Today’s manufacturing careers require creativity, technical skills, and collaborative problem-solving – skills that are perfect for the next generation of leaders who will drive future innovations.”
During Manufacturing Month, Pella will also welcome local 8th grade students for a tour and hands-on activity designed to showcase career possibilities. Students will have the opportunity to work with Pella’s Steady Set windows – the industry’s first interior installation system for wood windows.
