The public can learn more about the Monroe City Council’s desire to build a new City Hall/Police Department Building during an informational open house at Monroe City Hall tonight. The City of Monroe is asking voters in the community to approve up to $1,450,000 in general obligation bonds for building and equipping a new or remodeled City Hall and Police Department facility. The issue is on the November 4th ballot, and is the topic for this evening’s 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Open House. Residents are encouraged to come and ask questions, and share their thoughts and opinions. Monroe City Council members say a new City Hall and Police Department building is needed for enhanced security features and additional storage space. They also say the current City Hall building, which was purchased in 1992, needs new windows, doors, ceiling, ventilation, and a roof.
