
Dutch Men Finish Runner-Up at Bradley Cross Country Classic
A pair of top-five finishers on the Central men’s cross country team propelled them to a runner-up effort at the Bradley Pink Classic Friday afternoon.
Central scored 74 points to trail only Grand Valley State University (Mich.) in the team standings. Jack Brown took fourth in 25 minutes, 9.82 seconds, while William Wadsley wasn’t far behind in fifth (25:10.38). The other three scorers for the Dutch were Donovan Card in 21st (25:48.20), Jack Every in 37th (26:19.88) and Dillon Starlin in 47th (26:46.23). Nathan Vander Waal was 49th (26:47.81) and James Brant was 50th (26:47.94) to close out the seven-man lineup.
Central next travels to Dubuque for the American Rivers Conference Championships on Saturday, November 1st.
Short-Handed Dutch Women’s Cross Country Squad Fourth at Bradley
An incomplete Central women’s cross country team finished fourth in a stacked field at the Bradley Pink Classic Friday afternoon.
Central finished with 107 points in the White Race at Bradley, while Grand Valley State University (Mich.) secured the team title with 41 points. Dutch freshman Maddy Stevens was second overall in a time of 21 minutes, 55.47 seconds. Kyra Cordes crossed the line in 22:21.89 in seventh to put a second Dutch runner in the top 10. The other three scorers for Central were Teah Miller in 23rd (22:50.40), Emma McCoy in 50th (23:31.51) and Addie Doughan in 56th (23:40.57) Also in Central’s varsity seven were Reeve Ristau in 60th (23:49.17) and Breckyn Petersen in 61st (23:50.38). Central was without senior leader Peyton Steffen for the third time this season.
The Dutch are headed to Dubuque for this year’s American Rivers Conference Championships on Saturday, November 1st.
Coe Hands Central Volleyball Defeat
The Central volleyball team fell in four sets on the road Friday night to start a key weekend of American Rivers Conference matches.
The Dutch traveled to Cedar Rapids to take on Cow, and fell 27-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-12. Outside hitter Leslie Snow once again led the team with 15 kills, while Paige Sexton added 11. Setters Landry Pacha and Makayla Ribble each had 18 set assists. Colleen Kenney had 23 digs from her libero spot and Snow chipped in 10 to record a double-double. Middle hitter Maelyn Wainwright had four blocks and two service aces.
Central travels to Wartburg today for an 11 am match.
