The bronze sculpture on the south side of the Jasper County Courthouse that depicts two soldiers, one injured and one calling out for help, will be gaining a plaque. The Jasper County Board of Supervisors have given the Jasper County Vietnam Veterans permission to place a 24-inch by 10-inch plaque right below the ribbon that’s on the memorial. Veterans Dick Couch and Bud Pickett made the request on behalf of the local veterans group. The plaque will replace one that was on the original 1928 courthouse sculpture that deteriorated. That prior plaque was included in the current memorial, sculpted over two years in the 1990s by Newton artist Nick Klepinger.
