This week is National Teen Driver’s Safety Week.

This annual awareness week is promoted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is a way to bring attention to safety precautions that can be utilized for the youngest drivers on the road.  Traffic crashes are a leading cause of death for teens 15 to 18 years old. In 2023, 822 teen drivers died in crashes, and a total of 2,611 teen drivers were involved in crashes where someone died.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, young drivers along with all drivers in general should buckle up, stay alert, avoid speeding, limit passengers, and keep their phones down. For more information about teen driver safety, follow this link
