More history awaits the Pella girls cross country team as they are on what seems to be an inevitable march to their fourth consecutive state championship. Assuming the Dutch complete the effort Friday, Pella will become just the sixth girls team in Iowa High School history to win at least four consecutive titles, and the first since Mid-Prairie in 2021.

Pella scored 23 points at the 2024 girls state meet — the all-time low in both the 5K era (since 2014) and since the state went to four classes (2003), in a blistering performance to win a third consecutive Class 3A cross country state championship.

Marissa Ferebee continued a remarkable fall, breaking her own All-Time 5K record — and still owns the state meet course record by 17 seconds. Pella was the 2nd Class 3A girls team in the last twenty years to complete a threepeat.

Previous four-peats in state history:
Iowa City High (1989-1993 – five), Tipton (2003-06), Union (2007-2010), Dowling (2007-2011 – five), Mid-Prairie (2017-2021 – five)
