HIRTA Helps is looking for holiday light express volunteer drivers.

HIRTA public transportation has a volunteer driver program where volunteers drive individuals to appointments or wherever else they need to go and this year in Knoxville they are bringing the Holiday Light Express to town. This service is where volunteers give community members rides through holiday light displays. As a volunteer driver you’ll pick up passengers and help them enjoy the joy of the holiday season. Danny Schnathorst who is the marketing and communication manager for HIRTA says this is a great opportunity to further HIRTA’s mission of developing relationships with riders and prevent them from experiencing social isolation.

“One of the core values that our HIRTA Helps volunteer program does is that companionship. It’s reaching those people who are at risk for social isolation who don’t have anyone to talk to or anyone to get in the community with so we see all sorts of riders connect with our riders and become friends.”
