
Multiple Veterans Day events were held in Indianola Tuesday, honoring veterans for their service in our nation’s armed forces. American Legion Post 165 held a flag raising ceremony, in addition to the playing of Taps at the Junior Edwards statue at the IOOF Cemetery.

Indianola High School and Indianola Middle School also hosted a Veterans Day Ceremony, with patriotic songs performed by IHS A Cappella, the IMS 8th grade band, and the IMS 8th grade choir. IHS juniors Aaron Sherman and Jessica Yacavona played “Taps” on their trumpets, and the Mackenzie Highlanders performed on bagpipes.
Senior Master Sergeant Nick Fleury delivered the keynote speech.
Major Scott Williams was the recipient of a Quilt of Valor, sewn by three of our 8th grade GT students and bound by Binding Hearts Quilting.
