The City of Norwalk has announced the hiring of a new Parks and Recreation Director. Carissa Williams began her new role on November 5th.

According to a press release from the city, Williams brings years of experience in aquatics, programming, facility operations, and special events, along with a passion for strengthening community through recreation. Her career began at the local level as a pool cashier and swim instructor assistant, and over time, she grew into leadership positions focused on planning, grant management, and community engagement.

For the past nine years, Williams has worked with adults “55 and better” at the Urbandale Senior Recreation Center, helping expand wellness and connection programs for older residents. Norwalk City Manager Luke Nelson says Williams’ enthusiasm, experience, and dedication to community service make her an outstanding addition to the City’s leadership team. The City says it looks forward to the positive impact Williams will bring as Norwalk continues to grow and thrive.
