Pella’s march back to Cedar Falls has fallen on the shoulders of a remarkable athlete, who at times, seems impossible to take down, and finds a way at critical moments to make something special happen.

Emmanuel Diers has dazzled at his time as the star running back of the back-to-back state finalists from Pella. But the fact he’s even suiting up, let alone attending and thriving in high school in small-town America, would seem almost impossible in hindsight. Diers is literally from a world away from ours, as he was taken to an Orphanage at a young age in Sierra Leone, Africa. Emmanuel was found through a sponsorship program by Pella’s Doug and Jen Diers.
