Leighton State Bank made their $100,000 donation official on Tuesday to support the ongoing construction of the Pella Rec Center project.

Bank President and CEO Steve Fopma says Leighton State Bank committed to supporting the effort to bring an indoor recreation and swimming facility to Pella a few years ago, and it’s a project that should have broad impact on their staff, customers, and the area community.

Mayor Don DeWaard says he’s grateful for the support of Leighton State Bank and the now more than 100 individual contributors who made the project possible.

He says construction on the facility has been ongoing since June, with the goal of enclosing the swimming area before the coldest days of winter arrive. The overall project is on track for completion in the Summer of 2027.
