While the graduation of seven seniors last spring means many things will change for the Pella Christian boys basketball team this year, the schedule remains almost identical.
After three consecutive years of starting their season against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, the Eagle boys will have a new season opener this winter. Pella Christian will begin the year at PCM on December 1st, before traveling to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on December 2nd. Pella Christian’s non-conference slate has three new opponents this season. The Eagles will host Ankeny Christian on December 8th, travel to Burlington Notre Dame on February 2nd, and host Hillcrest Academy on February 9th. The Ankeny Christian and Hillcrest Academy games replace last season’s matchups against Centerville and West Branch. The Burlington Notre Dame contest is an additional 22nd game for Pella Christian this year, which was granted by the State due to the Nikes’ difficulty finding a 21st opponent this season to fill out their schedule. Other non-conference games for the Eagles include Des Moines Christian (Dec. 15th), Grand View Christian (Dec. 18th), Knoxville (Jan. 12th), Fairfield (Jan. 20th), and Van Meter (Jan. 29th).
In Little Hawkeye Conference play, Pella Christian will open up at Oskaloosa on December 5th, before traveling to Norwalk on December 12th. The Eagles’ first home conference game won’t come until after Christmas break, when they welcome Newton to Eagle Lane on January 6th. The first round of the Tulip City Showdown against Pella will be at Pella High School on January 9th, with the second edition of the rivalry matchup on Eagle Lane taking place on February 6th. Other notable conference games for the Eagles include their homecoming game against Oskaloosa on January 23th, and the regular season finale at Indianola on February 13th.
