Home delivered meals through the Jasper County Elderly Nutrition’s Home Delivered Meal Program will continue this coming Thanksgiving and Christmas. Jasper County Elderly Nutrition Program Director Kelli Van Manen got the contract for the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals approved by the County Board of Supervisors this week.
“We always have Thanksgiving and Christmas meals on the actual day. We use MercyOne to provide those meals. It’s $8.00 a meal. We usually get about half that in donations to help cover the cost.”
Van Manen says MercyOne Newton Medical Center has been providing these holiday meals under the same contract for many years, and typically 120 to 140 are delivered throughout the county on both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Anyone who would like to help deliver the meals should contact Kelli Van Manen at Jasper County Elderly Nutrition. The address, phone number, and other information can be found here.
