The Knoxville Public Library is now offering three different book clubs.

Books are voted upon by attendees and then participants have a month to read the book before coming back together for the monthly group discussion. A group that reads standard novels will be held the second Monday of the month at 1:30 pm. The next group is a thriller book club that meets the third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm, and the newest is a horror book club called “Fright Club,” which meets the last Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm. Holly Thorpe is the facilitator of the new horror book club, and she says now having three options to choose from helps people find a group they like to make connections with those in the community.

“Having multiple books clubs helps strengthen the library’s role in the community and I believe it just helps making those connections with people and then also I feel like we’ve created a space for people to come to whether it be you just need a night off, you need a night away, or your here meeting with friends. We have a lot of people that read together and discuss on their own but still come to discussions.”
