The Knoxville Girls Wrestling Squad placed 14th in the 33 team Central Iowa Kickoff at Nevada on Saturday. The Panthers had three place winners led by Serenity Turner at 110 pounds placing 2nd. Andie Branson at 145 pounds placed 8th and Mariah Ripperger placed 4th in her weight class. One thing that Coach Doug Hatch is pleased with early on is the girls have figured out more moves and are getting better and countering certain moves by their opponents.
Hatch: “They’re so much better and I don’t think they realize it. They get into a match and they know what to do now and that’s going to carry over.”
Hatch adds that the team is also setting higher goals this season and are motivated to do better than last year’s successful program debut.
