The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad will open the season tonight in a brand new era for the program, and a season where expectations will be very basic. New Coach Tracy Wilkins has one of the youngest, most inexperienced groups in program history as the Panthers open up against Fairfield. Three seniors who did not get much playing time last year, will be thrust into roles they have not held in their high school careers. Wilkins says the only expectation the girls need to focus on getting better each day they are on the court.

Wilkins: “Our expectation is we get better from now until the last day of the year. I think there’s potential for a lot of growth in the gym and that’s what we’re looking for.”

Only two players return with any real varsity experience and that is Addi and Ayla Williams. The siblings will be entrusted to lead the team and likely be the top scoring options each game. Knoxville and Fairfield have played seven times previous and the Trojans hold a 4-3 advantage. Knoxville has won the last two meetings. Live coverage is on 95.3 KNIA as it is our premier broadcast of high school sports with coverage starting at 5:45.
