The Knoxville Community School District will hold a ribbon cutting for their industrial technology lab project.
Work is finishing up for the industrial tech lab transformation for Knoxville Schools, after the district received a $275,000 grant from 3M and Heart of America in September.
The district found out they received the grant at the end of September and work started in mid-October. Since 1997, Heart of America has renovated over 1,000 spaces including classrooms, libraries, STEAM labs, college/career centers, school gyms, community centers, and more. The ribbon cutting will be held on December 4th with opening remarks beginning at 9:00 am at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center. Superintendent Cassi Pearson says the public is invited to this event and will be able to tour the new project.
“We really want to thank 3M for their continued investment in the Knoxville community and the Knoxville School District. There will be a few remarks in KPAC, and once we are finished there we will go tour the new area. We are excited to show that off and I know our industrial tech students are very excited to be able to see the unveiling of that area and to use that space.”
The district also hopes this space will help more students become interested in the manufacturing industry and give students a true factory experience.
