After six-to-ten inches of snow fell across the region for the first major winter storm of the 2025-26 season, another burst of precipitation could cause some travel issues today.

The National Weather Service estimates anywhere between a trace to three inches of snow is possible today. If any measurable precipitation is recorded, it could compound difficult-to-travel rural roads as many county crews continue to work on clearing those areas.

Those with travel plans, especially in southern Iowa, should use extra caution.

Much colder air is on the horizon, including potentially dangerous wind chills by Thursday morning. Values as low as 20 below zero are possible, according to the National Weather Service.
