The Indianola Chamber of Commerce is embarking on a new chapter in leadership with the official transition from outgoing Executive Director Amanda Zwanziger to incoming director Kristy Brouillet, which took place this week. Chamber leaders say the change comes at a time of continued growth for the organization, and both directors worked closely to ensure a smooth handoff.
In the weeks leading up to the transition, Zwanziger spent time walking Brouillet through the chamber’s full slate of programs from major community events to new member-service initiatives to give the incoming director a clear understanding of how the organization operates. She also outlined communication strategies, planning timelines, and partnerships that support the chamber’s year-round activities.
Now officially in the role, Brouillet has begun meeting with board members, staff, and local business owners as she evaluates the chamber’s ongoing needs and identifies opportunities to strengthen engagement. Incoming Director Kristy Brouillet tells KNIA News her main goals are to build on current success.
“For me, when I decided to apply for this, it wasn’t about doing an overhaul of the chamber, Amanda’s already done that. It looks completely different than when we started in ‘23. For me, it was more about building on the momentum that’s already in place.”
Brouillet says she plans to evaluate outreach strategies, explore ways to expand member support, and ensure that events and programs continue attracting broad participation from across the community. She adds that the chamber will maintain its focus on economic development, business visibility, and providing resources that help local businesses thrive as she officially takes the helm of the organization.
