Both Norwalk basketball teams will be in action tonight in a home doubleheader vs. Ballard that can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The girls team is currently 2-0, and the boys team will be playing its first game of the season.

The girls have gotten out to a great start with large wins over ADM and Bondurant-Farrar. They have been led by sophomore Braylyn Birmingham’s scoring as she currently leads the state with 61 points in her first two games. She is also the team’s leader in rebounds (7.5), assists (4.5), and steals (4.5) through those two games. They will be met with a size disadvantage this evening as Ballard is led by 5’11” sophomore Kaylor Johnson, who is averaging 8.5 points and 9 rebounds per game, along with 3 blocks. The Bombers lost their first two games this season vs. Dallas Center-Grimes and Clear Lake by an average of 20 points per game. Norwalk defeated Ballard last December 69-34.

The boys, on the other hand, start their 2025-26 season with a revamped roster, only returning 6.1 points per game from last year’s scoring average. The Warriors are not returning a single major statistic leader from last season. Ballard, however, returns their leader in points (15.8) and assists (3.1) from last season in senior Jude Gibson. In last year’s season opener, Ballard defeated Norwalk by two points.

Both games can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA with pregame coverage beginning at 5:45 p.m. The broadcast will be called by Norwalk basketball alumni Shaffer Landuyt and Dawson Livingston.

The girls’ game begins at 6 p.m., with the boys to follow, and will be played at Norwalk’s NPECC.
