The Knoxville Community School District and 3M will hold a ribbon cutting for their industrial technology lab project on Thursday.
Work is finishing up for the industrial tech lab transformation for Knoxville Schools, after the district received a $383,000 grant from 3M and Heart of America in September. The event will start at 8:30 am, there will be opening remarks at 9:00 am and then a ribbon cutting will take place at 9:50.
The district found out they received the grant at the end of September and work started in mid-October. Since 1997, Heart of America has renovated over 1,000 spaces including classrooms, libraries, STEAM labs, college/career centers, school gyms, community centers, and more. Superintendent Cassi Pearson says the public is invited to this event and will be able to tour the new project.
“We really want to thank 3M for their continued investment in the Knoxville community and the Knoxville School District. There will be a few remarks in KPAC, and once we are finished there we will go tour the new area. We are excited to show that off and I know our industrial tech students are very excited to be able to see the unveiling of that area and to use that space.”
The event will take place at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center. The new space will focus on advanced manufacturing, automotive and welding.
