The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad fell to Van Meter on Tuesday 80-15 in a game heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers fell behind early trailing 14-4 after one quarter, but the Bulldogs outscored the Panthers 29-4 in the 2nd quarter to pull away. Turnovers were Knoxville undoing again but according to Coach Tracy Wilkins rebounding was better against a taller and stronger Van Meter.

Wilkins: “Thought are kids just battled on the boards. That team was taller and stronger than us. I thought our kids battled on the board a lot of times that led to getting stops.”

Karalee Kennedy and Merissa Borwig each scored five points to lead Knoxville. The Panthers are now 0-2 and will travel to Clarke to open up South Central Conference play on Friday.
