The Newton Pacesetters Dance Team and dancers from PCM, Baxter, Colfax-Mingo, and Lynnville-Sully, are getting ready to compete in the Iowa State Dance Team Association Championship at the Casey’s Center and EMC Expo Center in Des Moines this week. The Pacesetters will be performing four routines, and senior Lily Bowes will be competing as a soloist. Pacesetter coach Graham Sullivan says Bowes qualified in the top ten to advance to the Class VIII championship from a field of over 70 dancers. She’s scheduled to dance at 9:18 Friday morning. The four Pacesetter team competitions are also Friday with Hip Hop Class VII at 10:36 a.m., Contemporary Class II at 11:22 a.m., Kick Class II at 5:05 p.m., and M.I.X. Class IV at 7:39 p.m. The Newton Pacesetters brought home a record four trophies from last year’s ISDTA Championship.

The PCM Dance Team also has two performances on Friday, with routines in Pom Class VII at 11:13 a.m. and Hip Hop Class V at 8:02 p.m. Baxter soloist Sydney Hibbs will perform in Class I at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, which will be followed by Baxter team performances at 11:23 a.m. in Contemporary Pom Class II and Hip Hop Class I at 9:44 a.m.  Colfax-Mingo soloist Selma Metz’ performance Thursday in Class II is scheduled for 8:33 a.m., with the Colfax-Mingo team competing that day in Pom Class IV at 10:25 a.m., M.I.X. Class I at 2:38 p.m., and Lyrical Class I at 4:03 p.m. Lynnville-Sully’s dancers qualified two routines for state and will be performing in Hip Hop Class II at 10:52 a.m. Thursday and in Lights Class I at 5:09 p.m. that night.
