The Pella Christian basketball teams open Little Hawkeye Conference play tonight, traveling to Oskaloosa for a doubleheader.

After opening the season with a loss to PCM, the Eagle girls enter tonight’s contest looking to build on the momentum of a two-game winning streak, after defeating Montezuma and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in their last two outings. The Oskaloosa girls played their first game of the season on Tuesday at Fairfield, opening the year 1-0 with a 42-28 victory. In addition to trying to push their winning streak to three-games, Pella Christian will look to avenge a pair of losses to the Indians last winter. The Eagles fell 48-41 in the matchup last December, before falling 49-39 in the January meeting.

Looking for their third consecutive season with a 3-0 start, the Pella Christian boys come into the matchup following blowout victories over PCM and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont earlier this week. The Indians also enter tonight’s matchup unblemished, opening up with a 76-55 road win at Fairfield on Tuesday. The Eagles and Oskaloosa split their two games a year ago, with Pella Christian winning the December game 59-42, and the Indians taking the January contest 65-44.

The Eagles’ basketball doubleheader at Oskaloosa High School tonight can be heard live on the KRLS2 stream at KNIAKRLS.com, beginning with pregame coverage at 5:45 pm, followed by tip-off of the girls game at 6 pm.
