Newton senior Pacesetter Lily Bowes hopes to continue competitive dancing in college. Bowes and the rest of the Pacesetters performed in the Iowa State Dance Team Association Championship in Des Moines last weekend. Bowes was one of ten solo finalists in Class VIII and placed 8th. She says she started dancing when she was two at family events. This was the only year she qualified for the state solo competition. She does anticipate joining a college dance squad after graduating from the Pacesetters and Newton High School.

“I think I am leaning more towards dancing in college. I’ve talked to a few colleges. They’ve wanted me. I know Iowa Central has really caught my eye.”

Bowes added that it was heartwarming performing her solo in front of her teammates Friday as they were cheering her on. The Newton senior talks more about her dancing, the Pacesetters, and last weekend’s state competition on today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
