Thanks to the Newton Police Department’s 20th Annual Shop With a Cop Program, nine Newton elementary students and their families will have a better Christmas. The nine kids were assisted by eight officers as they shopped for gifts Saturday at the Newton Wal-Mart. Officer Dustin Brisel says the participating children consisted of three students from each Newton elementary school, who were chosen for the Shop With a Cop Program by each school’s guidance counselor. The Newton Officers that joined Officer Brisel were Julie Britton, Jose Garcia, Bryen Hernandez, Randy Oldfield, Chad Plowman, and Andrew Shinkle.
