A family-oriented community Christmas open house will take place in the Newton DMACC building on Saturday. Newton DMACC Campus Executive Dean Bill Peters says there will be a lot of free activities for  kids, including a storywalk presented by Iowa State University Extension.

“Then, at the end of the storywalk, kids will make their own reindeer food to take home with them. We will have a free book for every child that comes through the door to promote literacy. We will also have a few other activities, just fun things for kids to do. Lots of music playing in the background. It should be a great time.”

Peters notes Santa will be on hand, and Newton Main Street will have a Winter Wonderland Market with local vendors set up on the second flood. Some will feature hand-crafted holiday gifts. The hours for Saturday’s Newton DMACC Community Holiday Christmas are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Campus Executive Director Bill Peters talks more about the event on today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
