
The Newton girls bowling team has yet to lose this season, winning their sixth event as they hosted Urbandale on Monday. The girls beat the J-Hawks 2,351 to 2,190. The Cardinal boys, who are now 1-3 in duals, lost by just 18 pins, 2,768 to 2,786.
Four of the six Newton girl bowlers collected 300 pins or better in their two-game series. Braleigh Slings was right at 300, Kelly Holmes bowled a 322, Aeris Archer a 341, and Gabbie Humphrey led the team for a sixth straight meet and all girls Monday with a 353.
The top bowler for all the boys was Cardinal Braden Baskerville with a 436 two-game series. Jeremiah Killmer was close behind for Newton with 428 pins, followed by Ascher Austin at 396, Owen Kearse at 317, Jarret Sweeney bowled a 305, and Carter Maki knocked down 267 pins.
The Newton boys and girls bowling teams are off until January 3rd. That’s when the postponed December 13th dual at Norwalk will be made up.
