The Melcher-Dallas Girls Basketball Squad had to play a couple of extra periods against the other Saints of the Bluegrass Conference to win 50-46 in double overtime while the boys fell 61-36. Coach Kelsey Goff says the girls was a full team effort led by Kesley Reed’s double double 15 points and 12 rebounds, Lilly Schneider had 12 and Sophia DeHeer came up with ten. After a good 1st quarter, the Saint boys could not get shots to fall and Mormon Trail’s post play dominated the rest of the game. Coach Matt Bennett told KNIA Sports Evan Schrader played outstanding defense while Reece Chiabotta scored 19 points. Bennett was also pleased with perimeter defense as his team allowed just two three point shots made all night. Melcher-Dallas will close out the first portion of the season against Murray on Friday.
