
The Norwalk girls wrestling team finished with one win and two losses at the Ames Quad on Thursday night. The Warriors were shorthanded as only six wrestlers competed for the varsity squad.
Norwalk defeated Albia 30-24, lost to Ames 72-9 and lost to Woodward-Granger 60-24. Hannah Schmitz and Maggie Evans both went 3-0 for the Warriors. Schmitz recorded a pin at 105 pounds vs. Ames, and also won by fall against Woodward-Granger at 100. Evans wrestled two matches at 110, winning by fall against Albia and an 8-7 decision vs. Ames. Norwalk also got pins from Skylynn Finnegan and Malaika Scholten in their victory over Albia.
The Warrior girls are now 7-6 overall in dual competition. They will finish the 2025 portion of their schedule at Saturday’s Boone Invitational.
