The Pella boys basketball team couldn’t close the gap the built in the 3rd quarter of a non-conference game against Waukee to end 2025, falling 65-53, as heard live on the KRLS2 stream Saturday at Central College.

The Dutch and Warriors traded the lead and tied eight times in the first quarter, but Pella had difficulty handling the tight defensive strategy of Waukee on the perimeter, leading to 21 turnovers. Head Coach Derek Schulte was excited for the opportunity to play against elite, 4A competition, and what it will provide for practices to come after winter break.

Pella was paced by 19 points from Austin Schulte, 14 from Jack McGuire, and 12 from Harrison Mullens. The Dutch finish the 2025 portion of the season at 6-1 overall.
