A renovation project in Pella aiming to revitalize a historic building for various uses has received a boost from state funding. The City of Pella has been awarded a Community Attraction and Tourism Grant from Iowa Economic Development Authority, as announced on Friday. The City of Pella will be awarded $500,000 for the renovation of the Pella Community Center, a historic building originally built in 1916 and serving the area as a place for arts, education, social services and community engagement since 1978. The project will make necessary upgrades to the infrastructure, improve accessibility and functionality, and create more spaces for multipurpose programming. Arvin Van Zante with the Friends of the Pella Community Center believes this boost will keep things on track for construction to start shortly after Tulip Time in 2026. Fundraising continues through the non-profit organization to ensure the full build-out can be completed. Find out to support the effort here.
