The Storm followed with a 28-23 win over Saint John’s (0-3) in a back-and-forth battle that wasn’t decided until the final two matches, where Troy Galloway and Carson Slorah delivered back-to-back pins to clinch the victory.
Against Schreiner, Simpson racked up five pins, with four coming in the first period. Galloway recorded the fastest fall of the dual, needing just 37 seconds at 197 pounds. Nicholas Silva, Noel Torres, Mazin Arafa, and Slorah also won by pin, while Trey Kellow added an 18-1 technical fall at 174 pounds and Davey Garcia picked up a forfeit at 165.
The second dual saw the Storm battle from behind early, trailing 14-6 after the opening four bouts. Simpson seized momentum in the middle of the lineup as Torres (15-0) and Kellow (16-1) registered back-to-back technical falls to give the Storm their first lead of the dual. Saint John’s reclaimed the advantage at 23-16, but Galloway and Slorah closed the showcase in dramatic fashion, each earning falls to secure Simpson’s second win of the day.
