treemendous

Over 200 decorated Christmas trees and other Christmas decorations can be seen today from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.at the Jasper County Historical Museum in Newton. The Museum’s 5th annual Tree-mendous Christmas Experience fundraiser has been going on every weekend since December 6th. Jasper County Historical Museum Board Member Dave Rorabaugh came up with the fundraising idea, which has drawn people from all around the area. Over the event’s five years, Rorabaugh says residents from over 30 states have visited their Tree-mendous Christmas, and last year over 1,400 people stopped in to view all the Christmas Trees.

“Every year we make a special effort to try to make it different from the year before, or any other year. So people that come will find out that we have made changes, and there are exhibits that really look nice.”

There is no admission charge, but free will donations will be accepted. Tree-mendous Christmas will also be open this Saturday, December 27th, and Sunday, December 28th. The hours are 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.  The Jasper County Historical Museum is at 1700 South 15th Avenue West in Newton.
