From continued dominance in girls cross country, to individual crowns at the Blue Oval, a fall full of top four finishes, and of course, the Double Dutch Dream, the year 2025 was another to remember for the green and white from Pella High School.

The Dutch athletic programs continued a rich year of excellence, adding some memorable state championship runs to the already-storied history of the school.

Here are some of the many key moments from 2025:
CinderPELLA – The unseeded, unranked Pella softball team conquered the top three pitchers in the state to win the 4A championship in unlikely circumstances
Double Dutch Dream – Pella baseball team claims the school’s first state championship in the sport, less than 24 hours after the softball team did the same
Fourpeat and More to Come – Pella girls cross country team claims a 4th consecutive state championship, fueled by returning three-time champion Marissa Ferebee
Dunham Becomes Track Champion in 4×800 School Record – Canaan Dunham won his first individual title as Pella’s 4×800 relay broke the school record at Drake Stadium, fueling a state-runner up finish for the boys track and field team
Volleyball Player of the Year, Again – Katie Scheckel won the Class 4A volleyball player of the year award from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association, leading Pella back to the state semifinals
Dreaming of the Dome, Part Deux – Pella rallied back to the UNI Dome and the state football finals for a second consecutive season
Two Tennis Trophies Collected in Long Spring to Fall – Pella girls tennis team earned two state top three trophies for the spring season (state runner-up) and new fall season (3rd place)

– Isabella Smith and Elizabeth Thomas Earn State Girls Wrestling Bids (January 31st, 2025)
– Pella Boys Wrestlers Send Five to State Meet, Including Logan Bruxvoort, Brecken Ritzert, Hudson Ritzert, Hunter Smith, Brayden Sundby (February 16th, 2025)
– Alex Bishara placed 13th in the Class 2A individual bowling tournament (February 25th, 2025)
– Pella Boys Tennis Seniors Nile Rozenboom and Jordan Shaffer placed 1st and 2nd respectively at the district meet held at Pella High School to qualify for state. (May 14th, 2025)
– Marissa Ferebee Defends Her 3000 Meters Championship (May 20th, 2025)
– Pella Girls 4×400 Relay Breaks School Record at Drake Relays, Again at State (May 22nd, 2025)
– Patrick Bishara finishes 54th at State Golf (May 28th, 2025)
– Claire Smock Places 3rd at State Individual Tennis (May 31st, 2025)
– Karsyn Lyons Places 8th Individually at State Girls Golf (May 31st, 2025)

Several swimmers qualified for state from the NCMP swimming teams shared with Newton. Those individuals will be included in the recap of Newton sports on Monday.
