The Jasper County Board of Supervisors approved supplemental agreement #2 with Snyder and Associates for additional design work associated with the redesign of a curve on County Highway F-48 West. County Engineer Mike Frietsch said that the original design for the curve, which is located west of Colfax, would not work due to issues that arose following previous phases of the project.

“We realized that they needed to be realigned. It wasn’t quite meeting up very well. And then we needed additional right away for 124th St. and then also with what we had to do to make it all work together, we needed an additional right away on 44th Ave as well because we end up having to redo 124th St from the curve all the way south to 44th Ave. We raised the grade and also changed the horizontal curvature of that road as it ties into that first curve.”

With the agreement, the redesign will include an additional topographic survey and right-of-way verification along W 124th Street S and S 44th Avenue W for improvements of the curve geometry along W 124th Street S. Tentatively the date for the submission of final plans and project development certificate is scheduled for January 20th.
