The Marion County Board of Supervisors took action regarding the county salary study at their meeting last Tuesday.

In August, the board hired The Austin Peters Group out of Fort Collins, CO to complete a county employee salary and job classification study. At a special session meeting, a member of the Austin Peters Group presented the results of the first part of the study and what the process of the salary study consisted of. The board then considered two financial options for the county to move to a step pay program with one being the market average for their position and one being in the 60th percentile of pay for their job. The market average would increase employee wages by 4.7% and the 60th percentile would increase by 5.1%.

At Tuesday’s regular session, the board voted and approved for the 60th percentile pay as the board members stated they hope this will help with job retention and make themselves competitive with other counties.
