A goal for new Indianola Police Chief Rob Hawkins is to continue the training and professionalism of the department that has been an ongoing effort over the last several years. Chief Hawkins tells KNIA News one of the ways he wants to do that is to receive State of Iowa Accreditation for the department.
“It’s a somewhat lengthy process, but how I like to phrase it is it allows us to establish professional standards and accountability for the department. It improves our police services and operational effectiveness by aligning with best practices in law enforcement. It reduces risk and liability, and strengthens our officers professional development plan.”
