The new leader of recreation services in Pella starts work today. The City of Pella announced that Spencer Winzenried has accepted the position of Recreation Director. Spencer brings leadership experience in municipal recreation management as a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) and Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO). He most recently served as Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Chickasha, Oklahoma.

As Recreation Director for the City of Pella, Mayor Don DeWaard says Winzenried will lead the city’s recreation programs, facilities, and aquatic operations. His focus will be overseeing the construction and opening of the Pella Indoor Recreation and Aquatics Center, expanding recreational opportunities, maintaining high standards for safety and quality, and fostering a welcoming environment for all who use Pella’s recreation facilities.

Spencer, his wife Baylee, and their four children are looking forward to moving to the Pella community.
