Several athletes who put on the Maroon and Gold on Eagle Lane during their high school careers are finding success at the collegiate level. In total, 34 Pella Christian alums are competing in a variety of sports across the NCAA and NAIA. Looking back on 2025 for these former Eagles, here’s some of the notable performers from last year.

Eric Mulder, Men’s Basketball, Iowa State University (Class of 2022)

After three seasons at Purdue-Fort Wayne, former Eagles high-flying big man Eric Mulder made the jump to the Big 12 for his final season. Now a member of the #3 ranked Iowa State men’s basketball squad, Mulder is averaging 5.3 minutes a game, while recording 2 rebounds and 1.1 points per game.

Isaac Kacmarynski, Football, Dordt University (Class of 2023)

In his junior season at Dordt, Isaac Kacmarynski was named a captain for the Defenders football squad. Kacmarynski led the team in total tackles, posting 89 of them compared to the second highest tackler’s 52, while also recording 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble.

Joslyn Terpstra, Women’s Soccer, Dordt University (Class of 2023)

Joslyn Terpstra continues to play a big role on the soccer pitch at Dordt, finishing her junior season with All-GPAC Honorable Mention honors. Terpstra totaled 11 points with three goals and five assists as a forward for the Defenders this past season. Terpstra also started in 14 of the team’s 17 games this past fall, while earning postseason honors for the third consecutive season. In total, Terpstra has 23 goals and 29 assists in her college career.

Levi Schelhaas, Track and Field, Dordt University (Class of 2022)

Former Eagles track and field sprinter Levi Schelhaas hasn’t slowed down since joining the collegiate ranks, pouring in accolades during his junior year at Dordt University. Last spring, Schelhaas was a USTFCCCA All-Academic All-American, a National Qualifier in the 4x400m and 4×100 meter relays at the Outdoor National Championships, and a GPAC Champion in the 4×100 meter relay. Additionally, Levi earned All-Conference honors in the 200m dash, 400m dash, and 4x100m relay.

Trevor Veenstra, Track and Field, Liberty University (Class of 2024)

After a great throwing career for the Eagles’ boys track and field team, Trevor Veenstra enjoyed a successful first season throwing at the Division I level. A member of the Liberty University men’s track and field team, Veenstra earned All-CUSA honors at the league’s Indoor Track and Field meet with a third place finish in shot put, while also taking seventh in the conference in the weight throw. In the outdoor season, Veenstra was Conference USA’s Men’s Freshman of the week on May 13th after recording his personal-best discus throw, before closing out the season with a fourth place finish in the discus and a 10th place finish in the shot put at the league meet.

Drew Geetings, Track and Field, Northwestern College (Class of 2022)

Drew Geetings is coming off his best season as a member of the Northwestern College men’s track and field team. As a junior, Geetings was an NAIA Outdoor National Track and Field National Qualifier, while also earning All-GPAC honors in the javelin and high jump during the outdoor season and in the high jump during the indoor season. Geetings also won the high jump in three meets during his junior season, while also recording 10 total top-four finishes in the high jump and four total top-three finishes in the javelin.

Corbin Westerkamp, Baseball, Cornerstone College (Class of 2023)

Corbin Westerkamp, the former Eagles flamethrower on the baseball diamond, started all 44 games for Cornerstone College last spring as a sophomore. Westerkamp posted a .275 batting average last season, while also recording six home runs, 25 RBIs, and going 13-14 on stolen bases. Westerkamp’s performance earned him Second-Team All-WHAC honors.

Lydia Zylstra, Women’s Soccer, Dordt University (Class of 2022)

Former Eagles goalkeeper Lydia Zylstra started all 20 matches for the Dordt women’s soccer team as a senior this past fall. In her 20 starts in goal, Zylstra saved 105 shots while allowing just 23 goals, helping lead the Defenders to an 11-6-3 overall record. Lydia also finished second in the GPAC with eight shutouts, was named the conference’s defensive player of the week on September 29th, and earned All-GPAC honorable mention for the first time in her career.

Chloe Huisman, Volleyball, Dordt University (Class of 2025)

After finishing her career as the all-time assist leader in Pella Christian volleyball history, Chloe Huisman made an immediate impact as a freshman for the Dordt volleyball team. In her first collegiate season, Huisman played in 27 matches, finishing second on the team with 452 assists, while also posting 178 digs.
