Crews responded to a Knoxville structure fire early Friday morning.
On Friday at 12:05 am, the Knoxville Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 300 block of W. Main St. While enroute crews were able to see a large column of smoke and a large glow, a working fire assignment was requested. Knoxville City Fire Department responded with one engine company, one EMS company, one squad company and two command officers.
When crews arrived, they found a detached garage fully involved. Crews stretched two hoses lines and started making fire attack. Crews were able to knock down the main body of fire in about 10 minutes, but were on scene for the next couple of hours conducting savage and overhaul operations.
One person was transported to Knoxville Hospital to be evaluated for smoke inhalation, no other injuries were reported.
The fire appears to have started by using a wood stove, that was in the garage as a heat source.
The garage is considered a total loss, along with all the contents that were inside.
Knoxville Fire Department was assisted by: Knoxville PD, Knoxville Rural Fire Department,
Marion County EMA, Marion County Sherriff’s Office, and Pella EMS.
