The 2026 Iowa State Legislative Session begins Monday and District 38 State Representative Jon Dunwell will be serving on familiar House Committees. The Newton Republican has retained all of last year’s committee assignments. He’ll again be the Vice-Chair of the Administration and Rules Committee, while also remaining on the Agriculture, Judiciary, State Government, and Economic Development Appropriations committees.
“Excited to be involved with Ag, State Government, and Judiciary. Three big committees that have a lot of important roles. Take a look at the State of Iowa, where over 83 percent of our land is tillable. It’s important that Iowa stays strong in agriculture. It’s important for our country and the world that Iowa stays strong in agriculture. As we continue to watch what is happening throughout the world, food security and keeping ag healthy is extremely important.”
Dunwell adds the State Government and Judiciary Committees are usually some of the busiest. The Newton Republican will also spend another session as the Assistant Majority Leader in the Iowa House of Representatives.
