The Pella Public Library and Genealogy Club will welcome researcher David Connon for the program, Researching Your Civil War Ancestor, on Thursday, January 15th at 6:30 pm. Connon descended from two Union veterans, and will share strategies for tracking down Civil War ancestors from the North or South. Connon has documented 76 Iowa residents who served the Confederacy. During the program, he will tell the stories of pre-war, war-time, and post-war activities from Iowa Confederates in the Civil War. Time permitting, audience members could share their research, and Connon can suggest options. The program will be held in the Library’s Meeting Room. It is made possible with funding from Humanities Iowa (HI), the State Historical Society, Inc. of Iowa for the Humanities and the Friends of the Pella Public Library, and is free and open to the public. The Genealogy Club meets in the Meeting room of the library every second Wednesday of the month at 1pm. Their next meeting will be on February 11th.
