
The Knoxville Boys basketball Squad shrugged off its first loss of the season by dominating Albia on Friday 79-33 while the girls saw more progress in a 67-14 loss to the Lady Dees both heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The girls were unable to stop Albia’s onslaught in the 1st half and found themselves down 47-9. Merissa Borwig scored six points to lead Knoxville. The boys took out their frustration on an undermanned Albia squad. With the game tied at nine, the Panthers went on a 17-0 run to take control and build a 50-20 lead at halftime and invoke the running clock early in the 3rd quarter. The Panthers were playing shorthanded as Drake Larson did not play due to an ankle injury suffered on Monday. Coach Joel Keady told KNIA/KRLS Sports with guys in unfamiliar roles on Friday, he was very pleased with their performance.
Keady: “The ball moved around and we played team defense. A lot of guys stepped up. Alex Kelley, Jack, Eli, Jacob, and Lincoln is Lincoln and to get back on our home floor and play the way we did, looked really good.”
Lincoln Norris scored 25 points to lead all scorers. Knoxville girls are 0-9 while the boys improve to 7-1. Knoxville has a quick turnaround traveling to Pella Christian on Monday.
