Boys and Girls Bowling

Both bowling teams are in home conference action against Oskaloosa, with competition at Air Lanes in Des Moines beginning at 9 a.m. The Norwalk girls are currently 1-4, while the Oskaloosa girls are 3-1, and the Norwalk boys are 1-4, while the Oskaloosa boys are 2-0. Most recently, Norwalk bowling was swept by Waukee on Monday in Waukee, the girls losing 2439-1813, and the boys losing 3155-2522. In that matchup, the top two-game series scores for the Norwalk boys included senior Jude Soper with a 399, junior Blake Halsted with 361, and senior Tanner Housley with 355. Soper rolled a high game of 208, and Halsted had a 201. The Warrior girls were led by freshman Baylee Baldwin’s individual games of 149 and 147 for a 296 series. Sophomore Eva Smith totaled 249 pins and freshman Molly Olson added 240.

 

Girls Wrestling

The Norwalk girls wrestling team will be in split action today, competing at both the Ogden Girls Wrestling Invitational beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the Carlisle Girls Wrestling Duals beginning at 10 a.m. Most recently, the Norwalk girls won two out of three duals at Thursday’s Pella Quad. They defeated English Valleys 60-12 and topped Newton 60-24, but lost to Pella 54-24. Hannah Schmitz and Maggie Evans both finished 3-0 on the night for the Warriors, and Merci Scholten was 2-0. The Warriors totaled 16 pins as a team, including nine against Newton. Their dual record is currently 9-7 overall, and they are 2-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.

 

Boys Wrestling

The Norwalk boys wrestling team is hosting the Norwalk Tom McLaughlin Dual Tournament today, beginning at 10 a.m in the NPECC. The other participating schools include Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Cedar Rapids Washington, Council Bluffs Jefferson, Davenport North, Marion, Pella, and Pleasant Valley. Most recently, the Warrior boys went 0-2 at West Des Moines Valley on Thursday. They competed against a pair of state-ranked Class 3A opponents, losing to Urbandale 49-23 and falling to the host Tigers 59-16. Senior 150-pounder Kale Wadle and junior 190-pounder Victor Esparza both went 2-0 on the night. Norwalk is currently 8-7 overall.
