A packed house at Pella High School had additional benefits beyond the energy at the Tulip City Showdown basketball games on Friday. Traditional events were held in conjunction with the first of two Tulip City showdowns this winter, as Pella Dollars for Scholars held their annual pork supper fundraiser. President of Dollars for Scholars and former Pella Christian Principal Dan Van Kooten says it’s powerful to see so many people step up for the soon-to-be graduates heading off to their next steps soon.

Additionally, Marion County Bank hosted its annual Bucks for Baskets event, in which students from both the Dutch and Eagles student sections shot layups, free throws, three-pointers, and half court shots to benefit both the Pella and Pella Christian activities funds. This first event raised $4,725. Another is scheduled with the Pella and P.C. teams as they reconvene on Eagle Lane on Friday, February 6th.
