The Knoxville School Board will discuss committee recommendations for a retirement positions attrition plan at their meeting Monday night due to declining enrollment.

According to the district, due to a larger-than-anticipated decline in enrollment in October 2025, the projected shortfall for the 2026–27 school year is $205,000. The subsequent school year will reflect a significantly greater shortfall as a result of the one-year budget guarantee. At the meeting, the board will discuss not replacing six different positions after retirements and resignations and retaining two positions. The district has provided information regarding the plan on the agenda here and what impacts it will have.

Also at the meeting the board will hold a public hearing and consider the 2026-2027 school calendar, consider a fundraiser and overnight trip request, and schedule a public hearing date for an athletic complex parking lot project.

Monday’s Knoxville School Board meeting will start at 5:30 pm at the district office.
