Midwest Inflatables is coming back to this year’s Newton Fest, and so is half-price Saturday admission to Maytag Pool. The city’s annual community celebration is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 12th and 13th. The Newton City Council has approved a $7,500 contract for Midwest Inflatables of Ames to provide free family entertainment through a fun zone at Maytag Park from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 13th. City Hotel/Motel Tax will cover the cost. Newton City Administrator Matt Muckler says Midwest Inflatables was first introduced at Newton Fest in 2019, and the activities the company has offered have grown over the years and always draw a crowd to Maytag Park. This year there will be laser tag, a mobile rock climbing wall, a 60 ft. obstacle course, a 30 ft. patriot sports challenge obstacle course, a Go to the Zoo toddler inflatable, and nine holes of mini-golf.
The Newton City Council also approved half-price single-day admission to Maytag Pool for the Saturday of Newton Fest. This reduction from $6 to $3 has occurred for the past three years.
